An update from our Second bargaining session with the University
Our bargaining team — Lauren Denofrio-Corrales, Jake Davis, Andy Goveia, Chris Pederson, Kevin Thompson, Amy Yount and IEA UniServ Director Ben Matthews — met with the University’s team from 5-8pm on January 22. During our first meeting on January 7 we shared our bargaining story with the University’s team and presented them with our first 11 proposals. The majority of our time together during our second session was spent responding to the University’s questions related to those 11 proposals. We also shared two additional proposals to address labor-management meetings and dues deductions. Other than the questions posed to us this evening, we have not yet received a response or counter-proposal. Nor has the University presented us with any proposals yet.
We are scheduled to meet again with the ISU team on February 2 from 4-7pm. We discussed other potential dates this evening and hope to have more sessions scheduled soon.
We are very thankful for those members who are part of the negotiations committee — and to everyone who has provided support and encouragement. While we will continue to provide updates like this one on our website as we work through the process, there will also be opportunities for members to get updates and provide input. The negotiations committee is currently working on a survey for members. Stay tuned for those opportunities moving forward!
