Oral arguments, HILIA & more
We will be in front of the Appellate Court tomorrow at 11 am
We prevailed in our petition before the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB) to establish the Lab School Education Association at Illinois State University in 2025.
ISU appealed that decision — specifically about the inclusion of HILIA employees in our bargaining unit — to the Appellate Court, Fourth District in Springfield and the court will hear oral arguments in the case tomorrow at 11 am. In their appeal, ISU has spent significant resources on a Chicago attorney to fight this all the way to court.

A decision from the court wlll come sometime after oral arguments are made.
As a reminder, both the labor board and union are parties to the litigation. The labor board is represented by the Illinois AG’s office. We continue to be represented by IEA’s fantastic legal counsel, Sam Hensel who is supported by the IEA Legal Department.
