Bargaining Update 5

April 16, 2026

An update from our last few bargaining sessions with the University

We had a pause in our meetings with the university due to spring break and some scheduling issues — but we have been busy in the last few weeks!

We met with the university on March 19, April 3 and April 14. At this point in the process, we’ve provided all of our language proposals to the university. They’ve responded to the majority of them, provided some of their own, and still own us responses on a few. The last few bargaining sessions have been productive and we’ve been able to reach several additional tentative agreements on a number of language items.

Keep in mind that all tentative agreements are just that — tentative. They could change as we continue through this process, but they are still signs of progress and we are optimistic we can continue the progress if the university continues to come to the table and bargain in good faith with us as they have the last few times we have been together.

We currently have tentative agreements on: the purpose of the Agreement, availability of the Agreement, dues deduction, a no strikes/no lockouts provision, academic freedom, labor-management meetings, non-discrimination, management rights, union access and employee information, and personnel files and records.

We have made progress towards tentative agreements on evaluation, and grievance & arbitration.

Before concluding our time together we also shared with the university our bargaining story related to compensation. This builds on the bargaining story we shared back in January and is intended to provide context to our compensation proposals, which we intend to share at our next bargaining session scheduled for Arpil 23.

On behalf of all of us — Lauren Denofrio-Corrales, Jake Davis, Andy Goveia, Chris Pederson, Kevin Thompson, Amy Yount and IEA UniServ Director Ben Matthews — thank you for your continued solidarity and support! The meals provided for our bargaining sessions have been very appreciated. If you are wanting to help in any way, you can reach out to LSEA president, Meg Flanagan!

Our power at the bargaining table comes from membership and our solidarity is our strength. If you have not yet joined us, please join us today! Reach out to anyone of the bargaining team or contact Meg, if you have questions or would like more information about becoming a LSEA member!

We are scheduled to meet again with the ISU team on the evening of April 23.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. And watch for more updates as we have more information to share.
